Organic cultivation
Not all cotton is the same. For those that are certified organic are grown in fields without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and defoliants. defoliants. Only natural and organic fertilizers such as compost and animal manure are used. Unfortunately, organic cotton still currently accounts for only a fraction of total cotton production. We want to change that.
There are various certifications for cotton from organic cultivation. The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)represents the most comprehensive certification in this regard. The seal is the world's leading standard for the production and processing of textiles from organically produced natural fibers. The certification defines holistic requirements along the entire production and value chain. That is why we also decided to apply for this certificate.
Globally, most organic cotton is grown on farms that are With rainwater work, so there is no irrigation with fresh water. The soil is healthy due to the observed crop rotation, Contains more organic matter and stores water 50% better than conventionally farmed soil. Water consumption in the cultivation of organic cotton is up to 91% lower than conventional cotton. The cultivation of organic cotton also saves up to 46% of CO₂ compared to conventional cotton.
In organic cultivation are synthetic chemical fertilizers and pesticides are prohibited. If appropriate chemicals are also avoided in the further processing steps, such as bleaching or dyeing, garments made from organic cotton contain no toxins and have a positive impact on cotton farmers, their families and your skin. The certification by the GOTS is therefore highly relevant.
